Part B: Students Explore Potential Client Situations and Personas (individual
While the Client may not be you personally Students are welcome to develop Client(s)
based on aspects of their own lived-experiences e.g. living with elders; in multi-family
scenarios; belonging to newcomer communities navigating a new city and language;
knowing other people in your community with lived-challenges and other social, health
and wellness situations requiring the custom design/renovation of a house/home, or
other residential model.
The Client(s) personas are developed with care, respect, and research into potential life
situations including Life Style (e.g. enjoys culture, entertaining, cooking etc.); Career,
work or education (e.g. works at home, has shift work, a student, or in retirement, etc.);
Family situation (e.g. single, couple, co-living family, etc.); diverse cultural experiences
(newcomers; multi-ethnic household, diverse rituals, customs, etc.). Students are
encouraged to look at emerging housing models noted above in Part A.
Discuss the project with colleagues, family, and community to garner input to developing
a client persona, which can be based on real, or known situations. Students will find
examples of Client Situations (pdf provided) developed over the last years by faculty
based on real-situations. You may adapt, use them to create your Client(s) for this project.
