This assignment has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your achievement of the following module learning outcomes: 

1. Define and contextualise business and management research problems, questions or issues. 
2. Identify and refine an appropriate research question and methodology; justifying all the choices made. 
3. Present research findings in an appropriate format, constructing reasoned arguments and critically comparing these with existing knowledge. 
4. Examine relevant literature and present a critical review of that literature 

BTM6DIS Assignment 1 Requirements 

Overview 

This assignment requires you to deliver an individual presentation of your research dissertation. It aims to evaluate your ability to effectively communicate your chosen research field, research idea, objectives,literature review, and methodology and findings. 

This assessment is a key component of your final year, designed to showcase your skills and knowledge in presenting academic research. Students must explain and justify their research design, the oretical framework, methodology, data collection, analysis, and research findings, where students need to address theoretical or practical issues. Clear, concise, and convincing oral presentation skills, supported by appealing slides, are essential for future professionals in Business and Tourism Management. 

Additionally, students must demonstrate the ability to answer questions effectively and justify their decisions. This assignment will be presented in Week 10 and serves as preparation for the final project dissertation at Level 6. Students are expected to demonstrate achievement of learning objectives, including knowledge and understanding of research design approaches and the ability to evaluate various methods and techniques for primary or secondary data gathering and analysis. Emphasis is on the presentation of the literature review for students to demonstrate an understanding of the research in their chosen field of study. 

This is crucial for building a strong theoretical foundation for the proposed research. Additionally, students are required to consider ethical, practical, and theoretical considerations and limitations of the research. Assignment task/s to be completed Individual presentation of the dissertation will repeat the written dissertation in some parts;

accordingly, the presentation will include the following parts: 

-Introduction, rationale for the research, stating and justifying the research problem, aim, objectives, questions and research significance.
-Conceptual and theoretical frameworks as the basis for the literature review. 
-Literature review, illustrating previous research and debates in the literature, gap in the research, or evidence of the research necessity, e.g. from reports.-Research methodology, data collection and analytical technique spresenting the specific data. 

-Result analysis and discussion presenting the specific results. -Summary of research, Conclusions and Recommendations 

This assignment offers students the chance to showcase their skills incompre hending and interpreting information related to research methodology and presenting it effectively to diverse audiences,encompassing academic and business contexts. 

Specifically, students are tasked with delivering their written dissertation, which is a 6000-word document accompanied by required appendices, in a presentation format with 2,000 word-count. You will need to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and present the dissertation orally in class.

You must be able to respond to questions concerning theoretical framework, previous research, gaps in the research, and practical and the or etical implications with appropriate referencing to the relevant primary and secondary resources and the findings of your research. You will need to justify your interest and you rrole in future research.

Additional Information required to support completing the tasks above Please note you will create your own template for the PowerPoint presentation. The structure of the presentation below is a guide, and students have the autonomy to decide where they need more slides.

However, the total presentation must not exceed 15 slides. 

1. Title To ensure that your title and topic point directly to the focus of your research, check to see that key terms in the statement of the gap in the literature and the research aim are reproduced in the title. 

2. Background of the study and Research problem or justification

• You should have a clear tittle pointing directly to the focus of your research from the different tourism topics provided. 
• The title should be a concise phrase that accurately describes the subject matter of a research study, aiming to be both informative and engaging to potential readers, while avoiding un necessary jargon. 
• It essentially serves as a headline summarising the core focus of the research. 

Research aim, research objectives and research questions 

• Outline the focus or names the specific knowledge the research methodology aims to generate. 
• What will you need to know to answer the research questions? How can you find this out? 
• Explain the research design and methodology: qualitative,quantitative, mixed methods. 
• Clarify the correlations between the research objectives and the chosen approach. 

3. Literature Review, Conceptual and Theoretical framework 

• The conceptual framework should express the variables of interest as flowchart and model, accompanied by detailed descriptions in the speaker notes. 
• The theories will be visually presented as either a model or a flow chart, accompanied by detailed descriptions in the speaker notes. 
• It’s important to note that the conceptual and the oretical frame work model and the literature review are closely inter connected in the research process. While the literature review in forms the development of the theoretical framework by identifying relevant theories, concepts, integrating them into a coherent framework, and establishing the conceptual basis for the research study, students are tasked with demonstrating the theoretical framework model in this presentation, rather than conducting an extensive literature review. 
• References are mandatory. Resources not used in the research dissertation are needed in this section of the presentation. 

4. Gap in the literature or evidence of the problem from reports,etc

• Outline the area within your research field where there is a lack of existing studies. There is a missing piece of knowledge or an under-explored aspect in your chosen topic that needs further in vestigation. 
• The ‘gap’ may be from findings to date, theories, debates, or remaining questions within the literature. It explains how the research will contribute to the gap. 
• References are mandatory 

5. Research method and methodology

• Description of the research methodology in line with the six layers of Onion Model and provide rationale for selection. Ensure you justify the choice of methodology (qualitative or quantitative, or mixed method).
• Explanation of data collection methods (primary or secondary) such as surveys, interviews, observations, or document analysis.

Discussion of sampling techniques and sample size determination.

• Outline of data analysis procedures, including statistical techniques or qualitative analysis methods.
• Ethics consideration: Provide ethical concerns and how to deal withthem.
• Present your systematic data collection process here. You should highlight the different types of data you collect for your research and show the data.

6. Data Presentation and Analysis of Results/Findings

• Present your specific data and results or findings.
• Include your analysis here. It should be able to stand alone and provide a clear picture of what was discovered through the studyin line with your objectives. 
• Evaluate your research findings with existing literature.
• Compare your research findings with existing literature.
• Discuss the implications and significance of your research. 

7. Conclusion and Recommendation 

• Summary of key points from the research. 
• Provide the limitations of the study and suggestion for future research. 
• Provide practical recommendations. 
• Provide conclusion to confirm how the research questions were answered.
