Connections between the poem “The Arab’s Farewell to His Steed” and James Joyce’s “Araby” short story
For this assignment, you are to read the poem “The Arab’s Farewell to His Steed” which is spoken about in Joyce’s short story “Araby”. At first glance, there does not seem to be a connection between the little boy in search of a gift for his young crush and the poem about a horse (that’s what a steed is). In reality, there are many connections though.

Find the connections between the short story and the poem. Please provide specific examples, using both short quotations and/or paraphrases from each of them. Please do not list themnext to each other only. Explain why you see and believe this is a connection point, by using the counterpart as an example. Then explain thoroughly in complete sentences. This should be relatively short, no more than a double-spaced page.
