Think about struggles and courage: In several key moments in the poem, Gawain
struggles internally and wants help finding the courage and tools he needs to face the green
knight. Choose one or more moments in Part 4 where you see Gawain struggling with his
behavior and/or fate, and explore your thoughts about him. Connect it back to an earlier
moment of struggle if possible. Does his struggle to be chivalric make him appear strong or
weak in your opinion? Is the narrator judging or supporting him, or both? Provide
