Essay length: 8-10 pages (this includes the content you will incorporate from Draft #1).
● You must use at least 8 sources in this essay. These include the sources you used for
Draft #1, and those you found for your annotated bibliography
● Your paper should contain an introductory paragraph in which you introduce the topic
and give the audience enough background to understand your discussion. Your introduction should end with a thesis statement which gives the reader a clear understanding of the main point of your essay [this can be the same intro you used for Draft #1, with appropriate revisions made].
● Do not discuss one article in its entirety first and then move on to the next article. Your sources should be synthesized throughout, and your paragraphs should focus more on the point you’re making rather than the articles themselves (think about the structure of Papers 1 & 2). Use clear and accurate topic sentences and include transitions. It’s okay if you don’t synthesize in every single body paragraph, but the majority of your essay needs to be a synthesis.
● Write well-developed paragraphs with concrete supporting evidence which illustrates your point and supports your thesis. Remember the paragraph structure – topic sentence, intro to your evidence/point, evidence, analysis, discussion.
● Include a cover page, in-text citations, and a reference page that follow APA style. Introduce all quotes with signal phrases that offer contextual summary. Use the Purdue Owl website for guidance on correct citations.
● Your work should be typed, double spaced, Times New Roman, size 12 font. Ensure your spelling throughout is correct and your essay follows standard grammatical conventions, and write in past tense when referencing your sources.
