When writing about the examples you have chosen, cite each source by sharing the author’s last name and the page number in parentheses at the end of the sentence — this is MLA citation format. Use full text quotes only sparingly, favoring instead paraphrase or summary of the material.
For example, I might believe that the author of Clearcut is stating a fact when they write about how easy it is to distinguish transitions between “old growth, second growth, and clearcut” sections of the forest (Clare 105). Notice how I cited their work, summarized the author’s statement and used full text quotation for only a few essential words.
