Assignment Type: Percentage Grade (Applied Core Assessment). You will be provided with an overall grade between 0% and 100%. To pass the assignment you must achieve a grade of 40% or above.

Assignment Task This is an individual assignment based on a critical analysis of a real organisational issue and includes a presentation of your findings. To complete this assignment, you must choose ONE of the case studies from the choice provided in the Your Assessment folder on Aula, they are:

Derby County Community Trust Rampton Hospital Sky Part A: Developing a strategy to lead equality, diversity and inclusion The Management Team in the case study has asked you to prepare a presentation in readiness for delivery to colleagues and peers on the importance of communicating up-to-date and relevant research evidence to inform and measure the impact of people practices. Your Presentation Pack must include presentation slides and presenter/supporting notes. It is expected that your presentation pack is aimed at the appropriate audience and is professionally formatted.

Task 1 Prepare a presentation in readiness for delivery (10 presentation slides plus additional slides with supporting notes) for the management team in the case study. Your Presentation Pack must respond to the following tasks and be professionally formatted.

Using a relevant/appropriate tool/technique/model for environmental analysis (internal/external factors considered), provide a critical evaluation of the issues your chosen case study organisation is currently facing and how they might be resolved. Provide a critical discussion of why equality, diversity and inclusion is important to the organisation, the individual and the team as an enabler of performance. Critically evaluate and discuss what should be an appropriate style of leadership in the case study organisation also analysing how this style impacts promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in the organisation. Note: It is expected that appropriate models, academic sources and good practice theory will be applied and be academically rigorous to support your work.

In your responses, you are allowed to make reasonable assumptions to the case study details provided. However, the case study should not be changed or compromised in any way. If you use a different case study to the ones provided you will fail in all areas and receive 0% grade. (1,500 words, 40% of marks)

Task 2 Your case study organisation has recently undertaken a brief staff survey to be better informed on how they are leading and developing people within the organisation. Draft a set of briefing notes in response to the survey findings to present to the organisation to guide their future strategy. Include this information on additional slides in standard text.

The survey has revealed the following: 65% look forward to going to work in the morning 62% find their work to be rewarding, 13% enjoying it ‘greatly’ 43% are satisfied with the variety of work they are required to do 80% feel valued and supported by their work colleagues, 55% by their line manager, but only 20% by senior managers 60% are satisfied with their physical work environment 55% are happy with their work life balance 83% say their workload has increased in the past year 70% are satisfied with their promotion opportunities 15% say change is managed well by the business 90% say that they ‘sometimes feel stressed’ when they are at work 74% say they ‘feel safe’ at work 37% are satisfied with the ‘amount of discretion’ they are allowed to exercise in their jobs 28% are ‘listened to when they are at work’ 36% are happy with their job security 27% say they experience no conflicts in the workplace 54% are actively seeking alternative employment.  Please note: this survey has been fictitiously created for the purpose of the assignment brief and not drawn from the actual organisation.

The set of briefing notes must: a)Identify which THREE of the key findings from the survey, the manager and senior team should prioritise for immediate attention and strategic action. Provide a critical rationale for your answer, explaining why these THREE findings are important in leading and developing people in the organisation.

b)Use your answers in part 2a to suggest and critically evaluate ONE strategic initiative which should be developed and how it could be embedded into the organisation to improve ONE of the findings identified in part 2a.

c)Include an Infographic (illustrative flyer). The company is keen to send a response to ALL staff summarising the company’s leadership and management perceptions of the staff survey findings and setting out what practical steps it is intending to take. Design an informative infographic (illustrative flyer) for circulation to all staff. Justify the importance of the infographic’s content in a brief to senior management in no more than 300 words. Note that the Infographic itself is not included in the word count. (1,500 words, 40% of marks)

Part B: Personal and Professional Account Task 3: Write a reflective personal and professional account.

As soon to be fCMgrs you are expected to be reflective practitioners as part of your continuous professional development. Choose ONE of the professional areas from the CMI Code of Conduct and Practice to critically reflect upon. The six professional areas are:

Behaving in an open, honest and trustworthy manner. Acting in the best interests of your organisation, customers, clients and/or partners. Continually developing and maintaining professional knowledge and competence. Creating a positive impact on society. Respecting the people with whom you work. Upholding the reputation of the profession and the Institute (www.managers.org.uk/code). You must select and use a reflective tool to aid your discussion and in elaborating further on how you would apply the chosen professional area to your own present and future professional career (include this information on additional slides using standard text).

Note Well: If you do not reflect on one of the CMI Code of Conduct areas stated above or reflect broadly, vaguely or randomly on a made-up area, or do not use a reflective tool you are likely to achieve very low to zero marks in this section. (500 words, 20% of marks)
