Purpose: In prior classes, you studied stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination and how they show in our daily lives. Given the relevance of these topics in the study of social psychology, this assignment will expand on past knowledge and delve deeper into these concepts.

Part 1.

An introduction to stereotypes, bias, and discrimination.

To differentiate the three concepts, use scholarly and reputable sources.
Find and discuss two examples of scholarly research on the themes and findings of the study.
Give an example of how the results might be seen in everyday life, in addition to what was mentioned in the research articles.
Find and describe an example of each of the following concepts in popular media: bigotry, prejudice, and stereotypes

Part 2.

Choose two instances from the list below and discuss their origins. How do these expressions propagate preconceptions in our society today?
You ___ (insert appropriate response) like a girl.
You snuck up on me.
Your name is Polack.
Indian Giver, man up!
Barbarian
Fire drill in China
Going on a “Dutch” date
There were no comments from the peanut gallery.
Please excuse my French.
Stereotypes are established in our society in such a way that they become normal, as seen by the instances above. Identify and describe at least two additional cases that are not listed above.
Finding 2+ scholarly/credible sources and discussing how stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination are perpetuated by and/or sustain the continuous marginalization of marginalized groups (Suffrage, Civil Rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, BLM, etc.).

For example, some of the stereotypes of women during the Suffrage Movement were that Suffragists were masculine or gender inappropriate. Those stereotypes both led to resistance to voting rights for women and were used to scare other people from joining the movement. There was both prejudice and discrimination against women during that time.
