Implementation Plan Design
Implementation is one of the most vital steps in using an intervention to help solve an identified problem or gap in a clinical or healthcare setting. Therefore, it is key to have a reasonable and sound approach to the implementation plan (Fernandez et al.,2019). In most cases, the implementation of an intervention plan is impacted by various aspects, such as the nature of the setting, the prevailing policies, the stakeholders, and the nature of the technology in place. The implication is that the intervention implementers need to consider all these and ensure that the chances of the success of the implementation process are enhanced. As such, the purpose of this assignment is to formulate an implementation plan. Various aspects will be explored, including the management and leadership style, delivery and technology, stakeholders, policy and regulations, and timeline.
Management and Leadership
In the earlier weeks, a problem of a disconnect or a gap that exists between a senior-year nursing student and a new nurse was identified, and a potential solution was explored. The proposed intervention entailed the use of targeted career planning and internship integrated with mentorship. Therefore it is important to explore how this intervention can be implemented. Various leadership strategies will be used in implementing the intervention plans. One of them is open communication. Open communication strategies ensure that important information related to the project is timeously communicated to the stakeholders. Through open communication, the leaders can let the other team members know about the project’s vision (Kim et al.,2019). This ensures that communication channels remain open and a smoother fulfillment of assigned duties and obligations. The other strategy is task delegation. Delegation of tasks ensures that every person knows what they are expected to accomplish hence preventing potential conflicts that may result from overlapping roles. Delegation empowers the team members and makes them feel appreciated and valued, encouraging collaboration.
Management is also key in the implementation phase. One applicable strategy is participatory management. This strategy encourages the team members to participate in key decision-making without discrimination. This ensures that every member feels a need for responsibility hence boosting collaboration. Another management strategy is empowerment. Empowerment is key in ensuring that the team members are confident in performing and accomplishing their obligations (Joseph, 2020). Professional nursing practices are also key in implementing the intervention. One of the professional nursing practices relevant to the implementation is teamwork. Teamwork involves bringing together individuals with various skills and skill sets to work together towards a common goal. Therefore, the implementation process will likely succeed if teamwork is used. Bringing various individuals to work together also promotes or ensures interprofessional collaboration.
There are various implications of the change associated with proposed strategies for improving the quality and experience of care. The proposed leadership strategies change the care setting. For example, open communication will enhance the implementation process as individuals will be able to receive important information in time and act on them (Kim et al.,2019). Bridging the gap between senior nurse students and new nurses will boost the quality of care as the individuals will be able to offer care more confidently. Therefore, patients will have an improved experience through better care. In addition, improved care may imply lower costs since the chances of readmissions and healthcare-acquired infections will reduce.
The proposed management strategies will also likely change the care settings since it is advocating for participatory management. This will positively change the care setting as the staff will be more involved and have a greater sense of belonging. Through participatory management, the opinions and views of the staff members are brought on board to affect care positively (Zijl et al.,2021). As such, the change will improve care. The patients will also have a positive experience due to the improved care. When the members are involved, they work as a team and ensure that every point of care follows the standards and guidelines hence limiting events that may increase the costs of care. Therefore, the costs of care are effectively controlled. The proposed nursing practice of teamwork will also positively impact the setting. Teamwork means a united spirit, course, focus, and goals. Therefore, the quality of care is likely to be enhanced. In addition, teamwork will likely lead to better care experiences and a reduction in care costs.
Delivery and Technology
Various delivery methods can be used appropriately in implementing the intervention. One of the strategies is the use of training. Training stakeholders and team members is key in ensuring the intervention is implemented (Mormina, M., & Pinder, 2018). The aspects of the intervention may fail if the implementers do not receive appropriate training. Hence training is a key aspect of the delivery method. The other method for implementation is following an implementation framework. Such frameworks are key as they offer foundations upon which the implementation process should be based. The methods will improve the quality of the project since they enhance the chances of the project succeeding.
Current technological options can also be important in making the delivery methods effective. One of the current technologies which can be used in the internet of things. Through this technology, the individuals to be trained can easily access relevant material remotely and interact with the trainers (Verma et al.,2018). This ensures a two-way communication characterized by content delivery and feedback to enhance uptake. Simulation and robotics can also be used to enhance the training methods as well as the established framework to enhance the process.
Apart from the current technology, emerging technologies can also be key in supporting intervention delivery methods. Some of them include virtual and augmented reality. These two are fast-emerging and high-tech solutions that can be used to improve various aspects of healthcare, such as delivering training and education. For example, virtual reality can be used to formulate training exercises with machine learning (Verma et al.,2018). This ensures that those who get trained regarding the project implementation get enhanced knowledge. This is achieved by generating real-life situations in a virtual environment, which the trainees can then immerse themselves in to enhance learning. These emerging technologies will be key in enhancing the training process and making it more effective. Virtual reality is the emerging technology that could have the largest positive impact.
Stakeholders, Policy, and Regulation
From the earlier discussions, it was evident that the stakeholders, policy, and regulations substantially impact the implementation process of an intervention plan implementation. As such, it is prudent to identify the most relevant stakeholders, policies, and regulations. The relevant stakeholders include educators, nurse curriculum developers, faculty members, and senior nursing students. The needs of these stakeholders will impact the implementation plan since their views and opinions will have to be considered in the implementation phase (O’Cathain et al.,2018). For example, they may have suggestions regarding the timeline and resources. Depending on what they propose, the project is bound to take a particular course.
Various health regulations will also be relevant since such regulations can impact the implementation of the intervention plan. One of them is Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. This regulation is key since it ensures alignment with the HIPPA security and privacy consideration (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019). It will be important to uphold the guidelines during the implementation process or phase. Apart from the health care regulations, there are also various support considerations that are relevant to implementing the intervention plan. One of them is support from the local authorities and the nursing training institutions. The nursing institutions are directly impacted by the intervention since it targets senior-year nursing students. As such, obtaining their support will boost the chances of implementing the intervention plan.
The existing and new policy considerations can also support the implementation of the intervention plan. An existing policy entails the requirement that interventions should promote safety and not cause harm. Therefore, the proposed intervention will be considered for safety from the first to the last phase (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019). It will impact implementation efforts in that during implementation. The implementers will have to ensure that the strategies are safe both for the team and the study subjects. One of the new policy considerations is that of protection from a data breach. Patient data is increasingly becoming a center of concern due to possible access by unauthorized individuals and breaches of other related regulations. Therefore, the implementation process will have to ensure that the data is not breached but remain confidential.
Timeline
The timeline is one of the most important aspects of project implementation. A project can be impacted by various constraints, which should be considered when coming up with a project timeline. The proposed timeline for the project is six months. This time frame is realistic since it will allow the team to perform all the requirements from project initiation to evaluation. It is important to note that, based on what will be going on during the project, intentional or forced, the timeline may be adjusted as appropriate (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2019). Various factors may impact the timing of the implementation. One of them is approval by the nursing institutions. This project focuses on senior-year nursing students, and therefore, permission will be sought from the institution to allow the implementation of the program. The other factor is resource availability. It will be key to acquiring the necessary resources for the project implementation. However, delays in the acquisition will likely lead to adjustments in the project timeline to accommodate the delay. The other factor that may likely influence the timeline is the availability of the participants. The participants will have to make themselves available to boost the chances of implementing the project within the projected timeline.
Conclusion
Implementation of an intervention plan is one of the most vital phases or stages of a project. The implication is that it should be given careful thought or consideration to ensure that the process is a success. As such, this write-up has explored the implementation aspects of the intervention plan. Various considerations, such as the management and leadership strategies that can support the project, existing and emerging technologies, and regulations and policies that can impact the implementation of the intervention plan, have all been explored. In addition, the write-up has also focused on the timeline, which has been proposed to be six months. This timeline is appropriate since it will allow the performance of the project’s key aspects.
