AB SUGAR COMPANY Strategic Management (preferably of medium-large size). This assignment has four tasks:
Perform an External analysis, an Internal analysis, and a SWOT analysis. Finally, consider how the organization can expand its strategic scope.
1. External Analysis (25 Marks) Analyse the external meso-environment using Porter’s 5 Forces framework and perform a Strategic Groups analysis; draw a clear conclusion about the attractiveness of this industry.
2. Internal Analysis (25 Marks) Analyse the resources and capabilities of the organization with the Resource-Based View (VRIN framework) across the Value Chain and consider 5 financial ratios. Explain whether the firm has any sustainable competitive advantage vs its rivals.
3. SWOT Analysis (25 Marks) Conduct a SWOT analysis for the selected organisation. Which generic strategy (low cost, differentiation, focused cost, focused differentiation) do you recommend to them? How can they distinguish their positioning from competitors?
4. Ethics and Sustainability (15 Marks) Identify areas in the firm’s tactics and strategy that could raise ethical issues. Provide practical and measurable solutions that address the concerns and interests of at least 5 stakeholders and explain how these solutions will make the business sustainable.
