Closely read and reread the Plotin poem.   Keep in mind the public nature of the poem and what its goals might be in this situation. It contains many of the themes we will be exploring throughout the course.
First, what theme or themes can you identify, and are how are they both specific to the situation and applicable even to today’s athletes?
Second, identify and describe three literary devices used in the poem that have a strong impact on its meaning and the argument it makes. Please be sure to quote each device (short quotes) and to explain how it is used in the poem.
Third, what is your opinion regarding one of the poem’s major themes? How or why do you connect with this poem- or, if not, why not? Does it connect to the Houseman poem in any way (thematically or otherwise)?
Your initial response should be a minimum of 300 words.

some personal attributes for this discussion post on how i may connect to the poems is that I used to run track & field in high school then when i got to college i continued to always incorporate running  at least a mile into my daily routine. sophomore year a horrible accident happened where i fractured my lower right leg and have not been able to run the way I used to and it has been very diifficult to accept this since I used to love running so much.
