2nd “Late Breaking News” Script
Newscaster: “We interrupt this program to bring you this special report from Shanghai.”
Newscaster “You’re looking at satellite images of a CryBur facility in Shanghai, China. At 8:59 a.m. local time, an explosion rocked the CryBur facility, leveling the building. Although local authorities have not released any official data, experts estimate that over 500 lives may have been lost and $1.2B in property damage has been incurred. Early reports from Shanghai journalists state that a religious rights group calling themselves China CRYOut! has claimed responsibility for the blast.”
Newscaster: “This incident has occurred at a critical time for CryBur, the owner of the facility in Shanghai. CryBur has been instrumental in providing input to the Cryonic Regulatory and Advisory Commission, or CRAC, budget that is shortly to be presented for adoption. I’ve asked our station’s business correspondent to give her opinion on what impact this attack on the CryBur facility may have on the CRAC budget.”
Business Correspondent: “You’re absolutely correct that this incident may have far reaching effects on the CRAC budget. Not only has CryBur provided significant input to the CRAC budget, but they are also a major potential contractor for government funded cryonic burial. By putting the Shanghai facility out of commission, it’s possible that CryBur may have problems meeting the volume of burials it indicated it may be able to provide.
But there’s another aspect to consider since responsibility for the blast is being claimed by China CRYOut! CRYOut! in the United States has also made significant contributions to the crafting of the CRAC budget. Although there is no confirmed relationship yet between CRYOut! and China CRYOut!, this perception of the public could damage the group’s credibility and motives in their comments on the CRAC budget. Only time will tell what the ultimate impact these events will have on the CRAC budget, but you can bet the staff is scrambling to do damage control before the budget presentation.”
Newscaster: “Thank you for those comments. And for our viewing audience, we’ll bring you updates as the situation in Shanghai develops, as well as the overreaching impact today’s events may have on the CRAC budget. We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast.”
