Final Project
• Please notice that all work must be shown in a professional way with attention to detail
• Please notice that this Final Project represents your Final Exam. Therefore, prioritize it
• Please use a cover letter stating your name, course number, date due, and final project assignment
• Unstapled projects will not be collected as this is part of the assignment (if applicable)
• Please notice the following penalties:
• (1) Lateness Tax: For every business day that your project is late, you will lose 25% of your final project
grade – this is a deadline you do not want to miss
• (2) If you do not submit your printed project, you will lose the percentage of your grade corresponding to
your final examination – your grade for your Final Exam will be a zero
• (3) If you plagiarize material and submit it as your own without giving credit to the authors via proper
citation – a grade of F will be assigned for the project, and the instructor has the option to recommend you
for dismissal from the college for academic dishonesty (please use a Bibliography or Works Cited page)
• (4) No late Final Projects will be accepted under any circumstance – as the Final Project counts for your
midterm and final examination (please see the syllabus about the Departmental policies)
• (5) Please be professional, ethical, punctual, and diligent about completing this Final Project
• (6) The maximum font size is 12, and your sentences should be spaced at 1.5 units to avoid clutter
• (7) Your project must include the following: (1) Table of Contents, (2) Works Cited or Bibliography, and (3)
Proper pagination
• (8) You need to submit (1) a pdf file version of your work (word files are also acceptable)
• (9) Extra 5 Points will be given for turning your project before the deadline.
• (10) Please use a Table of Contents, a Cover Sheet, and a Works Cited or Bibliography (i.e. MLA style).
• (11) You must incorporate Excel in at least 3 of your articles for your project (not separate Excel files).
• (12) For every day that the project is received after the deadline, a 25% late fee will be applied of the
project’s grade. Any project received after the stated deadline above will be considered late.
• (13) Please email your Final Project (pdf file) as an attachment to: ********************* by
replying to the original email announcement as requested in class.
1. Select 5 business news that appeal to your own personal interest, and that reflect topics
covered in class (i.e. Corporations and Business Structures, Economics, The Federal
Reserve & The Tools of Monetary Policy, SWOT Analysis, Business Ethics & Case Studies
for Enron Corporation, Wells Fargo (or any other major corporate scandal) – just to
name a few. Please notice that the aforementioned list is only a sample of the wide
gamut of available topics. You may select any business news that appeals to your
interest.
2. Create a half a page summary for each article, followed by an in-depth analysis of each
business article as follows: (1) Your summary should be at least half a page long, and (2)
your analysis must be at least half a page long and it should incorporate and reflect knowledge acquired in this class (i.e. connect your news to our in-class discussions). You
need to attach the link for your business news to each article.
3. You may use your textbook (if applicable), your class notes, and outside sources as your
references. However, all work must be properly cited (i.e. APA7 or MLA style).
Plagiarism, and missing works cited or bibliography will render a project void, and will be given a
grade of F.
4. This project should reflect the very best of your writing abilities, analytical prowess,
research skills, and professionalism. In addition, it ought to reflect mastery of all topics
covered in class.
5. Extra points will be given for originality, interesting subject matters, and higher levels of
difficulty, organization, and general attention to detail.
6. You must incorporate Excel in at least 2 of your articles for your project – minimum
requirement (not separate Excel files please).
7. Extra points will be given for students who incorporate Excel as part of their news
analysis beyond the 2 minimum required articles.
