ENGL 105 Unit 2 – Discussion Board
Discussion: Hobby or Interest
Hobbies and interests are activities and aspects which allow one to explore their passions and what they like in life, aside from professional activities. Hobbies are things that people like doing that makes them feel happy as they make life more fulfilling and exciting (Fan et al., 2018). My hobbies include travelling and making new friends, volunteering and offering community services or working with charities. I also like sports like competing on a team or league and cooking. Further, I like writing and listening to music while doing yoga and meditation. These activities are essential to me as they allow me to feel my passions and have a fulfilling life (Jenkins et al., 2019). I like music so much as it allows me to do my yoga and meditation to reinvigorate myself and feel good again. Travelling allows me to meet new people, understand their culture, and appreciate their efforts in life to make the planet a favorable place for all humanity (Tokuda et al., 2020). As a health care provider, volunteering is at the heart of my career and service delivery to patients and communities with different health issues. I love cooking my favorite meals and serving them to people that I love; especially family and friends.
Research is an essential part of professional nursing and nurses use it to attain a better understanding of health and personal issues (Maier, 2020). In this case, I would leverage research to demonstrate to others and convince them to take interest in volunteering work because of the fulfillment that it provides. I will use the research to show the published evidence about the benefits of volunteering, especially for nurse practitioners as it allows them to offer quality patient care.
