Here is the writing prompt
Everyone agrees we need to do something to address the problem of the unhoused (homeless) population in the United States. But, a common problem is that nobody wants temporary shelters or permanent housing solutions close to their own homes or “in their backyards.” The term for this phenomenon is “NIMBY-ism” (“Not In My Backyard”-ism).
Write a 500- to 750-word essay in which you engage and analyze material from the texts below to discuss how NIMBY-ism makes the current homeless epidemic difficult to address. Assume your audience has not read these texts, but is familiar with the topic of NIMBYism and homelessness.
