In order for me to reflect on the status of human resource management in my current organization, it is important to understand that Human Resource Management (HRM), “is the process of acquiring, training, appraising, and compensating employees, and of attending to their labor relations, health and safety, and fairness concerns” (Dessler, 2020, p41). Within my organization the Human Resource (HR) department has different roles such as planning and staffing that focus on the employees within the organization. Planning means establishing standards and developing rules and procedures for employees to ensure the organization is abiding my state and federal regulations. The HR department in my organization also takes on other employee driven elements such as helping employees choose the correct health coverage for them and working with existing employees during open enrollment. Another element the organization has includes staffing. which means determining what type of people should be hired; recruiting prospective employees; selecting employees; setting performance standards (Dessler, 2020). I think that some of the elements of HRM that my organization has that focuses on the whole organization include things such as leading and maintaining morale; motivating subordinates as well as controlling such as setting quality standards and checking to see how actual performance compares with these standards; taking corrective action as needed. My organization incorporates HR as a strategic partner because they can bring a specific perspective on how to avoid personnel mistakes and increase levels of engagement, profits, and performance.

Kiara,

Explain why strategic planning is important to HR managers.

Unread

Strategic planning is important to HR managers because it can help develop programs that can address and solve major long-term business problems while taking into consideration workforce culture, behaviors, and competencies which when implemented correctly can promote the successful execution of business strategy (Strategic Human Resource Management, 2023). Without strategic planning, HR may not have the guiding direction in which they are able to carry out their functions on recruiting the right people who align with the company’s strategic goals. Without strategic planning, it would be hard for the HR department to promote productivity, address key issues, and focus on training and development initiatives when there is no clear direction on the strategic goals of the organization.

Hello Kiara,

It is true that Human Resource Management (HRM) is the process of acquiring, training, appraising, and compensating employees. Perfect HRM operations guarantee a suitable work environment for employees to deliver the best results. A high-commitment human resource (HCHR) strategy provides a competitive advantage by empowering workers (Collins, 2021). HCHR is a HRM strategy that acknowledges the employee value in determining organizational performance. Therefore, HR managers implement structures and duties that enable workers to generate exceptional performance. Planning is an HRM function that allows managers to develop standards and policies for employees to ensure that the company adheres to regulatory demands. Most companies expect much from their workers. Hence, these organizations prepare their employees to deliver perfect results. Leading and maintaining morale is an ideal strategy to boost employee productivity levels (Malik et al., 2020). Motivated workers assume the sole responsibility of assisting their employers to achieve shared goals and vision. Besides, appreciated workers take an active role in rectifying mistakes that interfere with organizational progress.
