HUM 410 Aspen University Module 1 Strengthening Scholarly Writing

Choose a healthcare topic that interests you. It can be any topic of your choice, but must be related to healthcare or the healthcare professions. During this course you will be researching this topic and writing a formal paper about it. For this week’s discussion we will do step 1: Pick and state your topic. Then explain why you have chosen it and how it relates to healthcare. Your discussion board posting should reflect the correct tone for academic threads.

Discussion Post

Digital Technology and Nursing Care

The topic for discussion is Digital technology and nursing care. This topic is of great interest because it involves different approaches that holds great promise for improving the quality and efficiency of nursing care. Unfortunately, the topic is often misunderstood or misrepresented in popular media. Misconceptions about digital technology can lead to ineffective implementation of new technologies in nursing care settings. I chose this topic correct the misunderstandings or misrepresentation that often leads to slow adoption of technology in the healthcare delivery processes.

Digital technology can be defined as any type of technology that is used to create, store, exchange or process information electronically. This includes a wide range of tools, such as computers, tablets, smartphones and social media platforms (Krick et al., 2019). The use of digital technology in nursing care encompasses everything from providing educational materials and allowing patients to access their medical records online, to using robots to assist with clinical tasks or data management. There is a growing body of research exploring the impact of digital technology on nursing care. Some studies suggest that nurses who use digital technology report feeling more efficacious and capable in their work. Additionally, nurses who use technology report feeling more connected to their colleagues and patients. Technology can also be used to improve communication among nurses, as well as between nurses and patients (Krick et al., 2019). It has the potential to improve patient safety by helping nurses prevent medication errors and other mishaps. Additionally, technology can be used to support nurse education and training.

Digital technology and nursing care directly relates to healthcare because it touches on some of the most important approaches to healthcare delivery particularly in the current digital environment. Today, digital technology is having a positive impact on nursing care by making it more efficient and effective. In the future, digital technologies will only continue to play a bigger role in healthcare and nurses will need to be prepared to use them effectively, hence the need to study the topic.
