Managing People and Organisations

Managing People and Organisations Formative 2: Individual Peer Review

To be submitted to BB 08.11.22 (15.00 hours)

Students will be allocated by their Module organiser a presentation to review and evaluate and offer recommendations on how they could have improved the presentation. Students will watch the video in their own time as many times as they wish to understand the presentation as well as the process of academic presentations.

The students then need to write 350-500 words to give the presentation group feedback and recommendations on how they could have improved presentation skill and theoretical content of the presentation. Also need to consider whether they answered question set (fully or partially). A template is included to help assist with this process.

The recommendations do not need to be given equal numbers of words, as some teams very good on presentation but content lacking and vice versa, so evaluating feedback recommendations needs to fit according to the presentation seen. This needs to be submitted to your tutor through blackboard. Generic feedback will be given back on blackboard collaborate of the peer review feedback and their evaluative recommendations.

Peer Review Feedback Task

The task is to listen and watch your allotted presentation and make notes to use in reviewing the presentation. The question that the team are addressing in the individual peer review presentation is: ————————————

You can use the indicative presentation assignment outcomes to help you to collate your thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of the presentation assignment you have witnessed. You then write up individually the peer review and feedback for the group (350-500 words). Pay attention to how the group presenting could have developed the presentation further.

To achieve a review objective of outlining how the allotted presentation group could improve the presentation delivery and the presentation content for next time. In your peer review you will need to outline what worked well, what worked less well. To develop deeper feedback students can use academic material to evidence their points in respect to delivering presentation and content (but no more than 4 academic sources). In designing feedback it is useful to be reflexive about presentation delivery and content (reflexive means putting yourself in the presenter’s position and thinking about how you would have felt in this situation) and consider how you would like to receive information to improve your future performance and improve on elements that have been done less well in the presentation.

A copy of your individual peer review will need to be placed with your summative assessment so please keep a copy for submission.

In your peer review please consider the below template for your peer review

Formative coursework template

In your peer review please consider the below criteria in your feedback .

Structure: use of introduction /conclusion, use of linking statements and summaries, the overall logic of the presentation, was the question answered in full?

Content: What was the knowledge and understanding of the topic. Was this linked to current academic debate? Were key issues identified for this topic? Did they do what they were instructed to do ( You may want to include extra references here to evidence your point of view). Were arguments coherent and through? Was the information referenced correctly? Were there enough sources of research information (10) Were they a mix of academic and practitioner sources ?

Group effectiveness: did the group seem cohesive? Was there evidence of them working together? Was the best use made of the slides? Were the slides of good quality? Did the slides and the presentation they maintain your interest in the topic all the way through the presentation.

Future Development: How could the group positively improve in the future. What would help them to improve both in presenting but also in delivering content? Maybe useful to compare to others presentation you have witnessed to help think about this issue.

Student learning outcomes to take forward

Relevance of feedback to the allotted presentation. Shows insight into outlining points that could help the presentation students in the future.

Framing of feedback in respect to question content demonstrates understanding of theoretical topic and further reading.

Indicates conceptual understanding of group work and teamworking needed to deliver successful presentations

Demonstrates reflexivity and understanding of key issues in delivering presentations.

The tutors will provide you support in how to structure a presentation (see formative work) and outline the expectations in respect of good reflective feedback..
