Nurses are required to offer better and improved patients care. Therefore, various strategies are applied to help the nurses achieve such a goal. One of such is more education, like undertaking a bachelor of nursing program (Djukic et al., 2019). Professional associations have promoted legislation such as BSN 10 to encourage the registered nurses to obtain a Bachelor’s degree within ten years of initial licensure. Currently, the only state having the BSN in 10 legislation in force is New York. Other states like The New Mexico State Board of nursing still do not have such proposals.

The nature of nursing education heavily impacts how nurses are prepared for the needs of the profession. Therefore, a few adjustments can be made to ensure that they are well prepared for the profession and the health care consumers. Some of the aspects which can be included are an expansion of learning opportunities, and inclusive educational environment that prepares nurses to offer care to diverse populations, and the impact of racism on health to be part of the syllabus (Wakefield et al., 2021). This will ensure that the nurses are more prepared to serve diverse populations.

Integration of various subject content offered in BSN such as assessment, community, leadership, and informatics in the current practice (Billings et al., 2019). Therefore, I plan to integrate this new knowledge into my practice in various ways. For example, I plan to use various informatics solutions and telehealth to attend to my patients even remotely to improve their outcomes. I also plan to take up senior leadership roles and participate in forums where important care decisions are made. In addition, the new assessment skills will be used to know the patients better and ensure that correct data is entered for every patient to enhance accurate diagnosis and effective prognosis.

The BSN-prepared nurse receives education beyond his or her basic nursing program to include subject content on informatics, leadership, community and assessment, and others. Explain how you plan to integrate this new knowledge into your current nursing practice.
