Title: NUR 630 Topic 3 DQ 2

One of the main problem that I have identified in the healthcare setting is overcrowding of patients that result from low nurse to patient ratio. In the modern healthcare systems, there are emergence of diseases as well as other health complications that causes more patients to look for medical assistance in various healthcare settings. Usually, it is a requirement for all healthcare settings to ensure correct nurse to patient ratio to facilitate delivery of services and effective medical outcome. However, with the lack of facilities and insufficient revenues to employ more healthcare workers, some hospitals end up with low number of nurses against the increasing number of patients.

The campaign for the safe-nurse to patient ratio is a global effort that aims at ensuring safe staffing for patients and nurses in different healthcare systems across the world. Different studies have shown that suitable staffing of nurses in different healthcare facilities aids in the achievement of economic and clinical improvement when it comes to patient care (Schwab, Meyer, Geffers, & Gastmeier, 2016). Some of the results of appropriate nurse-patient ratio include the enhancement patient satisfaction, reduction in the patient care costs through the reduction in the unintended readmissions, reduction or prevention in the nurse fatigue and the improvement in safety outcomes (Cleary, Horsfall, & Hayter, 2015).

To address the problem of low nurse to patient ration, I would engaging in the allocation of more revenues or budget to the recruitment of more nurses and other medical professionals to enhance treatment processes. I would also regulate the number of patients both inpatients and outpatients to ensure that available staff members are assigned duties based on their numbers, Finally, I would also ensure quality improvements so that nursing practices are compliance with the international required standards.
