Observe the host teacher’s classroom, and think about the systems he or she has in place for classroom management. Interview the host teacher to learn about his or her classroom management system. Ask questions such as: What is the role of the students working with the teacher to develop the classroom rules and expectations? How are the foundations for effective PBIS implemented? Describe the class meeting or the way in which students have the opportunity to participate as a community in the classroom. What are the jobs and roles that students have in the classroom? How are the students seated during individual and group work? What is the justification or explanation for the arrangement of the desks in the room? How are students individually recognized? Is there a “Student of the Week,” for example? What extrinsic reward system is in place for individual students and the class as a whole? What are the established group rules and norms, and how are they taught to the students? How would this classroom management system transfer to an online learning environment? Compare and contrast what you learned from your discussion with the host teacher and your observations in the classroom to what you learned in the course text and PBIS websites about strategies for classroom management that foster community building. Post an analysis of the following points: Share two strategies your teacher uses that are identified in our readings or PBIS website as best practice. Identify two suggestions for classroom management and community building that you would add to the classroom if you were the teacher and explain why. Describe how your suggestions could transfer to an online learning environment. Include citations from the resources that support your analysis in the post. Part2 Watch the Video Field Experience of the class. Think about what you have observed and experiences in your field placement. Complete an analysis based on what you have read and your Field Experience relating to classroom management and how that helps to build a positive classroom community. Write a 2- to 3-page analysis in which you: Identify and describe one way the teacher in the video establishes a positive classroom climate. Share evidence of developed and shared expectations for students in the video to create a positive, respectful classroom. Explain and justify one strategy for effective classroom management that you have observed in your Field Experience classroom that you would suggest to the teacher in the video. Identify and justify whether PBIS is used in the classroom. Discuss one strategy from the video that could be used in a virtual environment. Use research from the resources to support your analysis. 2- to 3-page, APA-style formatted paper. In your analysis, be sure to incorporate specific examples from your Field Experience and resources.
