Review the Resources on healthcare policy and regulatory/legislative topics related to health and nursing informatics.
Consider the role of the nurse informaticist in relation to a healthcare organization’s compliance with various policies and regulations, such as the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
Research and select one health or nursing informatics policy (within the past 5 years) or regulation for further study.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE RUBRIC ATTACHED IN FILES!!!!

As a professional nurse, you are expected to apply your expertise to patient care. On occasion, you will also be expected to share that expertise.

With evolving technology and continuous changes to regulations designed to keep up these changes, there is usually a need to share information and expertise to inform colleagues, leadership, patients, and other stakeholders.

In this Assignment, you will study a recent nursing informatics-related healthcare policy, and you will share the relevant details via a fact sheet designed to inform and educate.

The Assignment: (1 p not including the title and reference page)

Create a 1-p fact sheet that your healthcare organization could hypothetically use to explain the health or nursing informatics policy/regulation you selected. Your fact sheet should address the following:

Briefly and generally explain the policy or regulation you selected.
Address the impact of the policy or regulation you selected on system implementation.
Address the impact of the policy or regulation you selected on clinical care, patient/provider interactions, and workflow.
Highlight organizational policies and procedures that are/will be in place at your healthcare organization to address the policy or regulation you selected. Be specific.
Use A P A format and include a title p, in-text citations, and reference p.
Use the Safe Assign Drafts to check your match percentage before submitting your work.

**Fact Sheet: Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA)**

**Overview:**

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) is a federal legislation enacted in 2015 to reform Medicare payments and improve healthcare quality by transitioning from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement models. MACRA aims to incentivize healthcare providers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care through two payment tracks: the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs).

**Impact on System Implementation:**

MACRA has significant implications for healthcare organizations’ system implementation, particularly in terms of electronic health records (EHRs) and health information technology (IT) infrastructure. Organizations must ensure that their systems support data collection, reporting, and performance measurement requirements outlined by MACRA. This may involve implementing or upgrading EHR systems, integrating clinical decision support tools, and enhancing interoperability to facilitate data exchange with other healthcare entities.

**Impact on Clinical Care, Patient/Provider Interactions, and Workflow:**

MACRA’s emphasis on value-based care has transformed clinical care delivery, patient/provider interactions, and workflow within healthcare organizations. Providers are now incentivized to prioritize quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and care coordination. This shift has led to greater emphasis on preventive care, care management, and patient engagement strategies. Additionally, providers are increasingly leveraging health IT solutions to track and report performance metrics, leading to more data-driven decision-making and quality improvement initiatives.

**Organizational Policies and Procedures:**

At our healthcare organization, we have implemented several policies and procedures to address MACRA requirements and support successful compliance:

– EHR Optimization: We have optimized our EHR system to capture and report quality measures required for MIPS reporting, ensuring accurate data collection and submission.

– Quality Improvement Initiatives: We have established quality improvement teams to monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement evidence-based interventions to enhance care quality and patient outcomes.

– Provider Training and Education: We offer ongoing training and education sessions to providers and staff on MACRA requirements, MIPS reporting, and best practices for delivering value-based care.

– Interdisciplinary Collaboration: We promote interdisciplinary collaboration among providers, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to improve care coordination and achieve shared quality goals.
