Module 4 Assignment: Synthesis Essay Collaboration with Parents OR Other Practitioners
Rationale for the Assignment: The skill of explaining concepts, skills, and ideas is practiced by educators continually in classrooms, conference rooms, in lecture halls, and on the internet. The purpose of the project is to share your understanding about collaboration using technology competencies required of 21st century educators.
Learner Objectives & Outcomes:
Objective 1: “Collaborate with professionals to increase student success” (Washburn, 2019, p. 1)
· LO 1: Explain the rationale and factors involved in collaboration/consultation/teamwork in special education
· LO 2: Research and describe collaboration skills and the problem-solving process for improving students learning experiences
· ISTE #1: Learner: ISTE #1: Learner: Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve students learning.
a. Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness
Directions: After reading each week’s reading assignment, write an informative synthesis essay for the topic. The contents of the essay should be completed within 3-5 pages, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, using font size 10. In addition to the 3-5 pages for the contents of the essay, please include a title page and references list formatted according to the American Psychological Association (APA, 7th edition) format for student papers.

2. Write the informative synthesis essay following these steps:
· Create a thesis statement for the topic.
· Sketch an outline.
· The introduction, body, and conclusions sections should be between 3-5 pages.
1. Write the introduction. (One (1) to two (2) well-crafted paragraphs).
2. Write the body of your synthesis essay. (Use at least 3 sources: to include the textbook for this course and two other sources.) In-text citations aligned with reference list entries are required.
3. Write your conclusions (One (1) to three (3) well-crafted paragraphs.
4. Create the title page and references list using APA 7th edition format for student papers.
5. Review the rubric provided in this document. Be sure to check to see that your essay has met all of the criteria within the rubric. It will be used for the weekly essay assignments.
