Due Friday of Week 4 by 8pm AEST/AEDT. The assessment is to be submitted online via the CloudDeakin dropbox.

Students will work individually to research one historical, political, or cultural topic related to First Nations peoples and provide the historical and social context of the topic. Students will also discuss how the topic can be linked to the contemporary Australian education context.

Topics that you can choose from include:

The Frontier Wars (or a specific conflict or massacre)

The Aboriginal Boards of Protection (or a specific mission or reserve)

The establishment of the Native Institution in Parramatta

The Black Wars in Tasmania

The various Smallpox outbreaks

The establishment of the first First Nations political organisations in the 1920s (or a specific political organisation)

The Cummeragunja Walk Off

The Stolen Generations

The Pilbara Strike

The Wave Hill Walk Off

The 1967 referendum

The establishment of the Tent Embassy
