Task 4

Learning organisations are likely to have internal departments and internal points of referral at the disposal of practitioners and learning managers. These could include:

  • SEN (special educational needs) department or SENCO (coordinating officer)
  • Specialist EAL (English as an additional language) tutors
  • Student services
  • Peer support / mentor programmes At times, a training organisation may need to seek support or even be required to work with external agencies or personnel. These could include:
  • Local authorities or councils
  • Charities or support groups
  • Specialist education experts or educational psychiatrists
  • Safeguarding or social care departments To complete this task you will need to research and explore the available referral opportunities and identify specific external points of referral that are either available nationally, or within your local area.

To pass you will need to explore a range of both internal and external points of referral available within a typical learning environment and explain what services they could provide to assist your role as an educational practitioner
