This writing exercise has three parts. First, you will come up with your own example case of Testimonial
Injustice as defined by Miranda Fricker in Epistemic Injustice: Power and the Ethics of Knowing. Then, you will
identify the three components in your example case: Identity-Prejudice, Credibility Deficit, and Systematic. Lastly,
you will write an explanation of how your example illustrates a central case of Testimonial Injustice.
1. Example Case Development (250-300 words) – 9 Points
• You will describe a real or imagined example of what Miranda Fricker considers “the central
case of Testimonial Injustice”: where an agent experiences Identity-prejudicial credibility deficit

• You will use your own philosophical imagination and/or real-life experiences to illustrate
your own example. Let yourself be creative.
• You should include the setting, the actions at play, what did one person say to another, how
it made them feel, how it might negatively affect them later on, etc.
• You will do this in no more and no fewer that 250-300 words.
2. Identify the Three Key Components – 5 Points
• In three bullet points, you will define the three key components of the central case of
Testimonial Injustice: Negative Identity-Prejudice, Credibility Deficit, and Systematic.
• Under that, in three more bullet points, you will identify where in your example those
components are at play. You will do so in one sentence for each component. (Look at the

o Two-three sentences explaining the Systematic component occurring in your example.
o One-two sentences synthesizing how the three components illustrate the harm of
testimonial injustice in your example case.
4. Formatting – 2 Points
