The research framework is essentially the backbone of your proposed study. “It is an abstract, logical structure of meaning, such as a portion of a theory, which guides the development of the study and enables the researcher to link the findings to nursing’s body of knowledge” ( Grove, & Gray, 2019, p. 180). Is it based on a theory or conceptual model?
A theoretical framework should be based on an established theory like Watson’s Theory of Transpersonal Care or Lewin’s Change Theory, etc. A conceptual model is generally represented in a diagrammatic format similar to Neuman’s Systems Model or the Chronic Care Model. You may also design your own conceptual model, but established ones are more valid because they have been tested repeatedly.
