You are asked to (1) conduct an in-depth analysis of a microaggression example from the media (e.g., newspaper article, movie/TV show excerpt, advertisement); and (2) prepare an in-class presentation on your analysis and facilitate class discussion. You will need to develop your own discussion questions to involve the class in your presentation and be prepared to direct the conversation. You must showcase the actual media item in your presentation. This may mean bringing in an item or playing the relevant media clip.
Your analysis should include:
A summary of the incident (what happened that you believe is a microaggression)
Explanation of which type of incident: microassault, microinsult, or microinvalidation? Please do not spend too much time defining these.
Connection to a theme from Sue & Sue’s themes
Description of any relevant dilemmas or dynamics from Sue & Sue.
