Groupthink model and group decision-making failures: Discuss the proposition that Janis’s groupthink model adequately accounts for failures in group decision-making. What are the main features and causes of groupthink? What are the symptoms and consequences of groupthink? How can groupthink explain some historical and contemporary examples of group decision-making failures, such as the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Challenger disaster, or the Brexit referendum? How can groups and organizations prevent or overcome groupthink and improve their decision-making quality and outcomes?
