Type a report , with the following labelled sections. If I don’t see the heading I will assume the section is missing and you will receive zero points for that section:
Existing (insert title here) Spaces: In 1-2 pages , discuss in detail what you learned in your research about what currently exists in your zip code. Cite your research sources throughout your paper. For example, to find out about child care availability in your zipcode you can check with your local Resource and Referral agency, like Child Action Links to an external site. in Sacramento. You will also need to cite any action research sources like child interviewees or your own direct experiences. Your readers should get a clear picture of what your neighborhood is like regarding your chosen topic. (10 points)
My Child-Friendly Proposal: In 1-2 pages, discuss in detail how you would change or add to these existing spaces in your zip code, with clear examples of how each of your proposed changes would improve children’s health and well-being. Refer specifically to the three areas of development: Physical, Social Emotional, and Cognitive. (10 points)
Community Advocacy: Identify who your City Council or County Supervisor is. In .5-1 page, draft a speech or letter (addressed to your member) that summarizes why creating a Child Friendly City is important for children and all community members. Include suggestions for how to get started (review the background readings for ideas), and include at least one of your suggestions from part B. The comment should be able to be read aloud in under two-minutes. If you live in the city of Sacramento, you can find your city council member here: City Council District.Links to an external site. If you live in the unincorporated area of Sacramento county, you can find your County Supervisor here: County Board of Supervisors Links to an external site.(10 points)
