Using only the book chapter titled “The Faith that Does Justice” as your source, write a 500
(minimum) to 1000 (maximum) word essay that responds to the following: 
Explain two of the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching, including their basis in religious
texts and traditions. Discuss how those 
principles specifically relate to your service-learning
experience. 
You must give examples from your service-learning experience to 
illustrate your
explanation. 
Format:
Font: Calibri or Times New Roman, size 12
1-inch margins, double-spaced, and aligned left (with ragged 
right)

This is an essay based on doing community service. The 2
principles of social teaching that I picked are Call to Family, 
Community, and Participation: A commitment to resist 
individualism, but rather
to grow and achieve in the community 
and for the common good (Swaner, 200–1) and Option for the Poor and Vulnerable: A commitment to examine every decision, 
especially social policies (not just personal decisions), in terms of 
its effects on the life and dignity of the
poor (Swaner, 203–4).
