Wisdom Literature in the Biblical Text is a genre of writing. There are two types of wisdom
Conventional- How the world is supposed to work – A clear cause and effect. This is the book of Proverbs.
Speculative- the world does not always work the way Proverbs might imply.
In this Lesson essay, we’re exploring the Worlds of Wisdom literature (Longman), Conventional wisdom (Proverbs) and wisdom when life doesn’t work out (Speculative- Job)
Instructions
1. Post your notes from the Longman video
2. Identify 3 provebs from the Proverbs reading that might speak to justice issues. How do they help the reader understand what justice is? (could be crimes, penalties, etc.)

Eliaphaz – Job 4:1-11
Bildad – Job 8:1-22
Zophar – Job 11:1-20
Job- Job 13:1-28
God- Job 38:1-15

How can we help people walk through (wrestle with/understand) the “unfairness” of life that many face? (Victims, Suspects, Families of each, etc…)(for example-Gun violence, domestic violence, loss of lively hood, economic theft, etc.)
