You may start your summary simply in this way:  “Go Ahead: Waste Time on the Internet,” by Kenneth Goldsmith, is about…
Be sure to tab in the start of a new paragraph!
2) Write a one page paper, double-spaced, that summarizes the main ideas of this essay (like you did in Assignment 5; go back and review that for specifics if you did not complete the assignment).  I want to see, most of all, if you can summarize this essay and say what the writer of the essay has to say.  What does Goldsmith say is the problem or problems with the Internet in terms of time and our behavior on it?  What personal experiences does he talk about?  What does he say about what others say about technology with regard to our own behavior (and the effects on children and others)?  How do people rationalize (use excuses for) the time they — or the people they live with — spend on the Internet or the computer?
First write one page, just as in Assignment 5, that says what the essay is about.  Then if you want to express your opinion, you can. You may give your opinion at the end of your summary in a couple of sentences at most.  You are not being graded on your opinion and feelings.  I need to know that you read the essay as indicated by the facts.  Above all, your job is to summarize the facts of the essay, which include the author’s experiences.  Again, you do not have to understand every single thing Goldsmith talks about for you to do this assignment.
Finally, your one page does not include the space for your name and class and such things.  Do a good, complete job here — you are almost finished!  You can do it.  Take time and finish well.
