Identify a problem of inequality or injustice in your own professional context. Use the resources of the Ethics and Education course to:
analyse the issue in question
explore how you might use one or more of the theories discussed in the course (or another theory if agreed with the course tutors by Milestone 8) to advance an approach to addressing the problem you have selected.
Assessment Criteria [from ILOs]
Demonstrate a critical understanding of key ethical concepts in relation to an educational issue.
Critique one or more relevant trends/schools in modern educational thought.
Appraise sociological or philosophical perspectives on education for equity and social justice (please note that we do not advise that you do both philosophical and sociological perspectives).
Construct a coherent argument that is well developed and defended, following standard academic conventions, e.g. consistent and appropriate citation and end-referencing.
Assignment Outlines
Assignment outlines of between one and two pages may be emailed to the tutors between 1st and 15th June. The tutors will do their best to respond within five days of receipt. Those who wish to plan on earlier preparation and feedback for their outlines should negotiate an earlier date and the tutors will try to accommodate this.
