NR 351 Week 1: Introductions

My name is Ismail, but everyone always calls me Smiley. Everyone claims that I’m always smiling but I personally feel as if I’m grumpy most of the time (Just joking). I’m a new grad RN for the past few months, but I was previously an LPN for about 4/5 years now. I specialize in Geriatric care. It’s been my passion since I’ve entered the field.

I’m excited to start school again but of course just as nervous as everyone else. I worry that I may not be up to date on the latest technology like apps and stuff to help me throughout the program. I think the biggest challenge will be not being in person, you’re really doing it all yourself, whereas in person setting you can form study groups, etc.

I chose Chamberlain College of Nursing because its flexible and the part that I love most is that I can further my education and career through the comfort of my own home. I reside here in Brooklyn, NYC, NY. in the Eastern Day Time zone.

I wish everyone the best of luck in their personal growth, and hope to make a friend or two during this process.

Hello everyone, My name is Melissa and I have been a nurse for 9 years. For the last 3 years, I have been in management at a post-acute rehab facility in Chicago, IL. Central Time Zone. I chose Chamberlain because many of my respected colleagues and friends studied for their NP through this school. I chose to finally go back after many of my colleagues, coworkers and family urged me to continue. Many insisted my credentials should align with how they viewed my potential. I decided it was time to focus back on advancing myself so I could explore other areas of nursing with more ease, provide better care for my patients, as well as provide a better future for my children.

Regarding what I am most nervous about returning to school, is meeting the expectations placed on me. I’m nervous of navigating the online format but also of having to spend time writing papers again. However, I have always had a passion for knowledge and enjoy learning new information and am excited at the opportunity to better myself further while becoming an even better nurse for my patients.

I have a partner and 2 children. One boy, one girl with my little girl turning one this month. We have one large dog and many fish. In my free time I enjoy exercising, gardening, travel, going to festivals and attending my son’s many after school events.
