Assessment Description
School counselors are often faced with difficult situations that require ethical and legal analysis in order to determine the best course of action. Additionally, school counselors need to be familiar with available resources that enhance efforts to create a supportive, proactive educational environment.
Watch “Hear Me Now: The Bullied Have a Voice,” and complete a 500-750-word reflection addressing the following:
In what specific ways does bullying present a risk of aggression or danger to others?
Select three scenarios and summarize the ethical dilemmas a school counselor might encounter.
For each selected scenario, consider the following:
What ethical and legal factors should the school counselor consider in each situation?
What resources would provide guidance to the school counselor in analyzing the ethical issues to best address each situation?
What might the most ethical course of action for the school counselor be in the situation and why? Consider and apply the ASCA Ethical Standards and “Solutions to Ethical Problems in Schools” in your response. These items are located in the topic resources.
Support your analysis with two to three scholarly references.
