(Youth violence )is the topic, but six other topics are needed.

For the 7 current events paragraphs (body paragraphs 2 through 8), students will choose 7 current events topics/issues that are also happening in the novel and find a news or current events article and an quote from the novel that aligns with the topic or issue. The goal is to show to the reader that issues and topics happening in our world today are also occurring in the novel, thus making the novel relevant to twenty-first century readers.Body paragraphs 9 and 10 will be based on the scholarly articles.

Consult with your professor for additional methodological questions and generalguidance.

The Annotated Bibliography is designed to review, summarize, and assess each of the secondarysources to be included in the Research Essay. The research process includes selecting appropriatesecondary sources, evaluating the sources, summarizing the sources, and determining how eachsource will support the Research Essay thesis.

An annotation (sometimes called an abstract or precis) is a condensed summary of the mainpoints of a source, helping the student-researcher to identify, analyze, and collect information tobe included in the Research Essay.
