For this assignment, you will create a comprehensive logic model for a criminal justice program of your choice. This can be the same program you identified in Discussion Post #2, or you may select a different program. Your submission demonstrates your ability to visually represent program theory and create a foundation for evaluation planning.
Assignment Components
1. Program Description and Logic Model Narrative (2–3 pages)
Program Context
· Program identification: Name, location, and sponsoring agency
· Mission and goals: Clear statement of program purpose
· Target population: Specific demographics, selection criteria, and size
· Context: Community setting, relevant statistics, and local conditions
· Problem/need addressed: Evidence-based description of the issue (cite at least 3 sources)
Theory of Change and Logic Model Explanation
· Theory of change: Clearly articulate the program’s theory of change, that is, how and why the program activities are expected to lead to the desired outcomes. Explain the causal mechanisms linking program components to expected results with theoretical basis and research support. It is essential to cite scholarly sources to support this section.
· Assumptions: Underlying beliefs about why the program should work
2. Logic Model Diagram (1 page)
Create a professional logic model that includes:
· Inputs/Resources: Staff, funding, facilities, partnerships, materials
· Activities: Specific program components and interventions
· Outputs: Quantifiable products of activities (e.g., # of sessions, participants served)
· Short-term outcomes (0–6 months): Immediate changes in knowledge, skills, attitudes
· Medium-term outcomes (6–18 months): Behavioral changes, skill application
· Long-term outcomes/Impact (18+ months): Sustained changes, community impact
Software options: PowerPoint, Lucidchart, Microsoft Excel, Word SmartArt, Canva, and similar tools. Focus on clarity and logical flow rather than artistic design.
Formatting Requirements
· APA 7th edition format
· 12-point font, double-spaced narrative sections
· Page numbers
· Reference page with a minimum of 2 scholarly sources
· Logic model diagram may be single-spaced and landscape orientation
